Shubhra Singh, CEO of Halifax-based EmployNXT has received the Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Saint Mary's University.
Co-founded by Singh, Purvasha Dewanjee and Rajat Budhiraja, EmployNXT has developed an artificial intelligence system to help match employers with job applicants based on the AI’s assessment of their abilities and preferences, with the aim of reducing the opportunities for bias to creep into employers’ decisions.
“At EmployNXT, we have strived to go above and beyond in empowering underrepresented communities, helping individuals break barriers and land their dream jobs,” said Singh on Linkedin. “Together, we are building a future where diversity isn't just a goal but a standard.”
The SMU Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award is presented in collaboration with the Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre to recognize alumni who have achieved outstanding entrepreneurial success in sustainability, innovation, and community outreach. A maximum of three candidates per year are granted the award.
