Research Nova Scotia, the provincial nonprofit that helps fund and coordinate scientific work, is getting a tidy boost to its budget.
About a $25 million boost, more specifically. Since Research Nova Scotia’s founding in 2019, it has received a total of $79 million from the province, counting the latest tranche of funding.
As well as research-related business development activities for the sector and coordinating other government investments, Research Nova Scotia funds scientific work in four key areas: sustainable bioeconomy work; climate change adaptation and resilience; public health and healthcare systems; and quality of life for Nova Scotians.
“This increased investment underscores the critical role research plays in finding solutions needed to improve the lives of Nova Scotians,” said CEO Stefan Leslie in a statement.
“We look forward to continuing to work with government, industry, communities, and researchers to support research that addresses key issues such as population growth, community resilience, healthcare transformation, and climate adaptations.”
