Innovacorp has put out a call for applicants to its GreenShoots funding and mentorship program, which will offer six agtech, biotech or cleantech companies up to $40,000 in grants.

The competition is run by Innovacorp, the Nova Scotia Innovation Hub and Guelph, Ont.-based Bioenterprise Corporation. To qualify, startups must have booked less than $1 million in cumulative sales and not have already raised more than $25,000 from Innovacorp.

Innovacorp’s website warns that, “Competitive applicants should have a proof of concept and have completed prototype validation in a laboratory environment, at minimum.” The site says that startups should also have identified a clear pain point in their target market and conducted customer validation.

Applicants who are selected for the program’s shortlist will each be given 10 minutes on Zoom to present their business overview, proposed budget and a plan showing how they will use the $40,000. The presentation will be closed to the public and followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer session, also behind closed doors.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 23. Details and an application form can be found here.
