Newfoundland and Labrador’s Genesis startup hub has put out a call for applications for the fall cohort of its eight-week Evolution startup accelerator, with an Oct. 3 deadline.

Genesis bills Evolution as a “pre-incubator” course meant to prepare young companies for longer programs, such as its own, three-year Enterprise incubator. Evolution promises to help entrepreneurs clarify their businesses’ value propositions, find product-market fit and find mentors. The program will be held online again this fall.

The eight weeks of study culminate in a public pitch competition, dubbed Pitch & Pick, for the cohort’s standout performers. The cohort is held three times a year, with the most recent Pitch & Pick winner being Recimply, the maker of digital receipt software.

To be eligible for Evolution, companies must be technology-focused, have already identified a pain point that their tech is meant to solve, have less that $1 million in annual revenue or be pre-revenue and have not yet produced a minimum viable product.

Entrepreneurs can learn more and apply here. The program costs $250.
