The University of New Brunswick’s Energia Ventures accelerator for energy, cleantech, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence companies is looking for applicants for its spring cohort.
The free accelerator, which is based in Fredericton at UNB’s J. Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, or TME, held annual cohorts in its first few years. Last year, TME doubled that number to two per year.
The spring cohort will run from May 2 to July 22, and like the most recent Energia sessions, will be virtual. Companies will receive intensive mentoring, educational programming, business support and equity funding, the organizers said in a statement.
“Energia is looking to build on the success we’ve had as we recruit for our seventh cohort, and the fourth cohort of the last two years," Joe Allen, the TME Managing Director for Accelerators, said in a statement. "We’ve had such amazing companies from Atlantic Canada and around the world, and look forward to working with our next group of game-changers."
In a December interview, TME Chair Dhirendra Shukla said applications to the startup support and training programs offered by TME grew substantially in 2021.
More information and instructions on how to apply can be found here. The deadline is Feb. 28.
