St. John’s-based Mysa Smart Thermostats is donating about $40,000 worth of inventory to non-profit Habitat pour l'humanité Québec, Habitat for Humanity’s Francophone arm, in celebration of Earth Day.

Mysa said in a statement the 300 smart thermostats, which use internet-of-things technology to better manage energy use for heating, will save more than 4,500 kWh hours of electricity every year they’re in operation, compared to conventional thermostats — roughly the equivalent of a large television set for each household.

The Mysa thermostats will be sold by Magasins Habitat pour l’humanité Québec, which is a store the organization uses for fundraising.

“Our team is incredibly proud to support Habitat pour l'humanité Québec this Earth Day,” said Mysa COO Zachary Green. “We share a mission to help empower homeowners to create a sustainable future in which they can thrive. Since the early days of Mysa, Québec has been a place where we’ve built thoughtful relationships with engaged customers and like-minded partners.

“We’re excited to keep growing those people-first relationships for our shared electric future.”

Mysa, which in 2021 raised a $20.3 million Series B funding round, has been increasing its foothold in Quebec recently, with plans to roll out a new partnership with Hydro-Québec this fall.
