Halifax medical imaging startup Densitas has signed a deal to incorporate its technology into the Nuance Precision Imaging Network — an American cloud storage and artificial intelligence platform for medical imaging — making it accessible to about 10,000 healthcare facilities in the United States.
Densitas’s intelliMammo platform consolidates three previous software offerings that measured patients’ breast density, assessed future cancer risks and offered mammogram image-quality monitoring for quality control. Breast density is one indicator of the likelihood that someone will develop cancer, and also makes mammography more difficult by concealing lumps.
Launched last year, the Nuance Network lets radiologists, doctors, insurers, life science companies and other players in the healthcare industry collaborate over medical imaging files.
“Our intelliMammo platform provides a solid foundation for population health management as patients navigate through breast cancer screening, diagnostic, treatment, and prevention pathways,” said Densitas CEO Mo Abdolell in a statement.
“Through the Nuance Precision Imaging Network, intelliMammo becomes immediately accessible to over 10,000 healthcare facilities across the US. The addition of intelliMammo opens the door to Nuance customers to capture information from routine screening mammograms and seamlessly leverage patient-centered data and insights in their existing clinical and administrative workflows.”
Earlier this year, the company also announced a deal for its software to be included in the medical imaging software marketplace maintained by the Blackford Analysis, the main business of which is selling an artificial intelligence platform for image analysis.
And last year, Densitas reached an agreement with the governments of New Brunswick, P.E.I. and Nova Scotia to roll out its technology in provincial hospitals and clinics.
