Halifax-based Clean Leadership Summer Internship Program is seeking employers to offer summer employment to youth interested in a career in the green economy.
The group’s summer program matches employers with interns (age 15-30) for 9 to 15-week work placements. Organizations located across Nova Scotia who focus on climate change mitigation, conservation, waste management, clean tech, active transportation, research, and other areas rooted in the clean economy are invited to apply.
“We welcome applications from community groups, associations, businesses, and individuals who share our vision of supporting youth employment,” said organizers in a statement. Organizers stressed that they work with community partners to bring opportunities to Indigenous, Black and African Nova Scotian youth.
Benefits for employers include a 60 per cent wage subsidy, as well as HR/admin and payroll services, occupational health and safety training, and resources including interviewing, supervising and mentoring support.
Applications for host employers will open on January 3, and remain open until January 17.
The group will host a 30-minute information session for anyone new to the program on December 12. Register here.
