Innovacorp and its partners are seeking applications for two programs that fund innovation-driven companies in Nova Scotia – the Sprint competition and GreenShoots.
Sprint is a funding program that provides as much as $25,000 in non-dilutive funding as well as business guidance to a range of Nova Scotian startups. The goal is to help young companies meet specific, short-term aims and reward them if they succeed.
It’s held a few times each year, and distributes a total of $100,000 each time it’s held.
“The goal of Sprint is to find and support high-potential, early-stage knowledge-based companies, and encourage entrepreneurial activity in the province,” said Innovacorp on its website.
Each competition comprises two phases: Phase 1 is for companies that have never received Sprint funding before; and Phase 2 is for previous winners who have shown they can meet the goals set for them.
The competition is open to companies in all innovation sectors, and the organizers are especially interested in deep technology opportunities.
You can find entry details here and have until Jan. 5 to apply.
GreenShoots – which is organized by Innovacorp, the Nova Scotia Innovation Hub and Guelph, Ont.-based Bioenterprise Corporation – is a competition for early-stage companies in the agri-technology, bioeconomy and related sectors.
Successful applicants will receive up to $40,000 in non-dilutive funding, with the goal of helping these companies’ export potential.
Previous GreenShoots winners are eligible to apply.
The details of the GreenShoots and application forms can be found here. The deadline is Jan. 14.
