At Entrevestor, we're in the process of preparing our annual Startup Data Report, which offers the most detailed snapshot available of the state of the Atlantic Canadian Startup Community.
If you are a startup founder in Atlantic Canada, please fill out our survey. Startup support organizations and industry groups use our data to learn how to better allocate resources and support the innovation community. So by completing the survey, you'll be helping improve the quality and usefulness of the services available to you.
The data report also helps fund the daily news coverage Entrevestor provides to the community free of charge. The report is a pillar of our business model and it means we can continue to report on what’s happening in the startup world.
As always, any information you share will be completely confidential, we only publish aggregate figures, and you can skip any questions you don’t feel comfortable answering.
Also please note: other industry groups, including the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association track funding numbers for startups in Atlantic Canada, but we can bring a special context to our analysis because we're journalists on the ground in the region.
For example, the CVCA does not track angel investment, whereas Entrevestor does. We also track funding raised from public markets, which represents a fast-growing slice of startup funding in Atlantic Canada. And we monitor non-funding metrics, such as revenue growth, as well as diversity and inclusion-related data, such as the number of women in startup leadership roles.
And lastly, we’re offering a further incentive to founders and CEOs to complete the survey promptly. As we did last year, we will donate $10 for each completed survey we accept by March 11. We’re capping this at 200 responses, so we could donate as much as $2000 to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Please Note: Startups that completed our Canadian Oceantech Survey late last year do not need to complete this survey as we already have your information. We received 35 Atlantic Canadian responses for that survey, and will therefore add $350 to the total donation.
Here’s the fine print on our donations:
For your responses to be accepted, you have to meet our three criteria for a startup: be an Atlantic Canadian-owned company, be commercializing innovation and be making a product for a global market.
We will publish how much we’ve donated to the CMHA on March 14.
