Dalhousie University’s Emera ideaHUB has announced the 10 companies accepted into the latest cohort of its ideaBUILD accelerator, with startups ranging from a maker of tracking devices for marine safety to a sustainable manufacturing business.
Previously called simply BUILD, the program lasts 10 months and offers participating companies up to $10,000 of funding, as well as access to training workshops, research and development facilities, technical assistance and one-on-one business coaching.
“MetaCrust Services is thrilled to be part of the fourth ideaBUILD Cohort at Emera ideaHUB,” wrote co-founder Sudra Anwar on social media. “It's an incredible opportunity for founders like us to take their physical product idea from design to prototype and prepare for manufacturing and scale.”
The ideaHUB says on its website that ideaBUILD is aimed at groups of four or fewer entrepreneurs, who are seeking advisors to help them refine their products, are expanding their teams in preparation for fundraising and need to prepare a prototype or proof of concept. By the time they finish the program, the goal is for teams to have an operational prototype that they are preparing to scale for commercialization.
Here’s a look at the participating startups:
