Halifax startup hub Volta has opened applications for its ninth Volta Cohort pitch competition, held every six months.
The companies chosen to pitch will compete for $25,000 of early-stage investment from a “microfund” run by Volta, BDC Capital, Innovacorp and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
They will also have access to office space at Volta and mentorship from a board of founders and CEOs who have previously received services from Volta, and who will meet every two months.
Each company will have three minutes to pitch, and there will be five winners. Last time, there were 15 finalists.
To be eligible, startups must be technology-focused, based in Atlantic Canada and not yet have closed a funding round.
The deadline to apply is September 12, and the pitch competition is slated for November 24.
