Cape Breton’s burgeoning startup community will host a one-day seminar next month in which experts from Canada, the U.K. and the U.S. will provide instruction in online marketing.
The event, to be held Sept. 14, is called Social Media Sydney: A World of Online Marketing. It’s designed to help entrepreneurs and others reach out to potential clients in their community or around the world.
“This day will offer more than social media expertise – it will give our participants exclusive insights into the next stage of digital marketing,” said Bob Pelley, Innovacorp’s Regional Manager for Cape Breton and Northern NS. “It’s about creating great content that reaches your customers.”
Last year, Innovacorp hosted a seminar featuring Cam Gordon, Head of Communications at Twitter Canada, on using Twitter to grow your business.
This year, Innovacorp, Nova Scotia Business Inc. and Cape Breton Partnership are teaming up to take the idea one step further. They’re bringing back Gordon but also adding other experts in social media and content curation to encompass several aspects of social media. These speakers are:
• Kieron Donoghue - Founder, Humble Angel Records (UK);
• Sarah Goforth - Director of Outreach, University of Arkansas Office of Entrepreneurship and
Innovation (US);
• Fergus Dyer-Smith - Founder & CEO at Wooshii (UK);
• And Tracey Boutilier - Owner, Vibe Creative Group (Sydney).
The seminar will be held at the Holiday Inn Sydney Waterfront from 9 am to 3 pm on Sept. 14. The cost is $45 and you can register here.
“It’s rare to find experts of this calibre in one room at the same time,” said Permjot Valia, Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Cape Breton. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with these phenomenal speakers – and they’re coming from across the globe. Anyone engaged in connecting with customers will not want to miss this.”
