Fredericton-based SmartSkin Technologies has received the award for Best Manufacturing/Processing Innovation at the World Beverage Innovation Awards for 2024.

The award was presented last week by FoodBev Media in Germany at BrauBeviale, the trade event that spotlights the global beverage market.

SmartSkin Technologies, led by CTO Kumaran Thillainadarajah and CEO Evan Justason, uses industrial internet-of-things technology to improve the efficiency of production lines in the bottling industry.

“This recognition motivates us to continue helping beverage facilities worldwide move toward zero-defect manufacturing,” the company said in a social media post after the awards.

Dan Bunt, marketing director of FoodBev Media, said: "This year's showcase of innovation has revolutionized our perception of beverages. The judges and I were truly impressed by the cutting-edge technology, creative use of ingredients, and the strong focus on ethical practices and sustainability."
