Registrations are now open for the 2018 Energy Innovations Forum coming up on Oct. 1 and 2 at the Fredericton Convention Centre. The event will bring together members of the region’s energy sector to discuss changes to the electricity industry.

The forum will be hosted by Ignite Fredericton and the Smart Grid Innovation Network, a New Brunswick based collaboration between NB Power, the University of New Brunswick and Siemens that aims to foster a smart grid ecosystem.

SGIN helps vendors get their products “smart-grid ready” by using the latest grid technology. This includes new electricity generation and monitoring technologies and improvements through data analytics and mobile applications.

Fredericton is home to a budding clean-tech energy sector. In December, The federal government and Halifax-based Emera Inc. committed over $4.3 million to build smart grid expertise and infrastructure at the University of New Brunswick.

The speakers at this year’s forum are yet to be announced but the forum will revolve around two major themes: evolving energy technologies and energy innovation in practice.

“The transformation of the electricity industry is happening at a rapid pace, and it presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for businesses and organizations in the growing digital energy space,” said Beth Richardson, an organizer, in an email.

Early bird registration ends this Friday, with full registration closing in September. You can register here.
