EY, the global accountancy and business consultancy, has announced the list of 33 Atlantic Canadian finalists for its 25th annual Entrepreneur of the Year Competition.
The businesses of this year’s finalists employ almost 3,700 people. They record more than $1.5 billion in annual revenues.
“Whether you’re an entrepreneur or an established business, the prospects for growth and opportunity in Atlantic Canada are truly limitless,” Gina Kinsman, program director for the event, said in a statement. “The calibre of companies that come through our program continues to amaze me. I’m excited to see what comes next.”
EY noted that more startups are now featuring in the list of finalists.
“We saw a rise in the Emerging Entrepreneur category, with more youth displaying their entrepreneurial spirit, as well as more established companies embracing technology to drive productivity and efficiencies,” said Kinsman.
EY will host the regional Entrepreneur of the Year celebration in Halifax on Oct. 4, naming winners in eight categories and the overall Entrepreneur of the Year. The overall winner will compete for the national Entrepreneur of the Year.
