Memorial University and the Ocean Startup Project are calling for applications to their Lab2Market Oceans accelerator.
The program, part of a national group of accelerators, is aimed at helping academic researchers in the oceans space commercialize their work. It will run for 16 weeks, eight of which will be full time. Participants will also receive $15,000 of funding, as well as mentorship in topics like customer discovery and navigating regulatory processes.
The Oceans stream of Lab2Market is part of the Ocean Startup Project and hosted by Memorial.
“Lab2Market Oceans helps emerging innovators and entrepreneurs from Canadian universities receive essential support as they address challenges and take advantage of opportunities related to the ocean sector,” Paula Mendonça, Memorial's Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, said in a press release. “Participants are opening up new doors as they enhance their professional networks, explore new business ventures and foster a better understanding of the ocean ecosystem.”
A total of 57 teams have participated in the program since its inception in 2020. Of those, more than 24 teams have continued with their businesses and raised a combined $850,000 of funding.
Applicants have until July 31 to apply and can find the application here.
