InnovateCare, a Dartmouth-based conference that discusses medical care and support for seniors through an innovation-focused lens, has announced this year’s keynote speakers.
Slated to be held Oct. 26 at the DoubleTree hotel on Wyse Road, InnovateCare will be headlined by Dr. Saskia Sivananthan, chief science and knowledge translation officer at the Alzheimer Society, and Dr. Kenneth Rockwood, a startup community veteran who founded patient-centred research company Ardea Outcomes in 2000.
Rockwood is a Dalhousie University professor who has spent more than 30 years researching and treating elderly patients living with frailty and dementia, as well as campaigning against ageism in healthcare. Last December, he won New Zealand's prestigious Ryman Prize, which is worth NZ$250,000, or C$218,000, for his work on behalf of older adults.
Based in Halifax, Adrea takes a two-pronged approach to boosting healthcare: the group gives patients a voice and allows pharmaceutical companies to better understand their clinical trial data.
The conference costs $50 to attend virtually or $250 to attend in person, although a discounted early-bird rate of $150 is still available on the registration page as of Wednesday morning.
