Ignite Labs, the incubator for startups in rural Nova Scotia, has opened applications for the fall cohort of its Ignite Explore program for youth.

Created in 2019, Explore is designed to teach high school and university students the basics of entrepreneurship, such as customer discovery and prototyping, via a series of virtual workshops. The program is open to Atlantic Canadians between the ages of 10 and 25, but they must have business ideas with commercialization potential.

“Youth are the future innovators of our communities,” said Ignite in a statement. “We want to make sure all youth have the skillsets to think differently and have the ability to capitalize on opportunities.”

The cohort will run for four months, beginning in September. Participants will be able to access up to $5,000 of seed funding for their businesses, as well as all the same services Ignite provides to its more mature entrepreneurs, including workspace and mentorship opportunities.
