Dal Innovates, the multi-tiered innovation program at Dalhousie University, is a global finalist for the Triple E Awards, which recognize the most entrepreneurial universities in the world.

Dal is one of 24 university entrepreneurship programs that will compete in the finals next week in Barcelona. The finalists include two other Canadian universities: McGill and Wilfrid Laurier.

The Triple E Awards website said the organization began the competition because entrepreneurship and innovation have become central to the mission of modern post-secondary institutions. Yet there has been until now no award to recognize the best schools in training entrepreneurs.

“In a short period of time, Dal Innovates and alumni have made a measurable impact in the Atlantic Canadian innovation ecosystem,” said a post on the Triple E Awards website. “Since its formation in 2020, over 400 students and faculty from 25 universities across Canada have participated in Dal Innovates programming.”

It added that ventures graduating from such programs as Lab2Market and Ready2Launch have already raised $6.8 million in private and public funding.

In total, said the post, Dal Innovates has supported more than 100 ventures in Atlantic Canada. In 2022, Dal Innovates was internationally recognized as the winner of the Deshpande Symposium Award for Technology Commercialization.

On social media, Dal Innovates asked its followers to vote for it to win the People’s Choice Award at the event. You can vote for Dal Innovates here.
