Dalhousie University’s startup hub Dal Innovates has announced the cohort for three Lab2Market Launch accelerators, part of a national research commercialization program for post-secondary institutions.

The programs include a research stream for Atlantic Canadian companies, a national health stream and a generalized Atlantic stream.

The Atlantic Canadian research cohort and the general stream include a combined 10 teams, with the national health cohort including another 10 companies, one of which is from Atlantic Canada.

The students, researchers and recent graduates are joining a 12-week, milestone-based boot camp offering up to $15,000 of non-dilutive funding, as well as mentorship, networking opportunities, office space and cash prizes of up to $10,000

The one Atlantic Canadian team in the Health stream is Purespire Biomonitoring Technologies, which is helmed by Crystal Sweeney, Tanya Bellefontaine and David Perez from Dalhousie University. Together, they are developing technology for monitoring firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens during their work.
