With support from Opportunities New Brunswick, Cvent a global events management technology provider, will be expanding its operations in Fredericton, creating up to 25 new jobs for the province.

Cvent is eligible for an investment of $385,000 from ONB, which will facilitate the expansion over the next three years. The investment will come in the form of performance-based payroll rebates. This means it will be given to the company once it has created and maintained the jobs for at least one year.

A statement released last week said that creating up to 25 jobs could contribute $6.75 million to the region over three years and generate $507,500 in provincial taxes over that same period.

“Strategic investments in cutting-edge companies like Cvent are driving economic growth in New Brunswick,” said New Brunswick’s deputy premier Stephen Horsman in a statement.

“Cvent is offering the types of jobs that young New Brunswickers are going to want to pursue. This is more evidence that our economic growth plan is working and that we are getting things done on behalf of this province’s working families.”

Cvent, which is headquartered in Tysons Corner, Virginia, currently employs over 90 New Brunswickers. The company secured a foothold in Fredericton in 2014 when it purchased local startup OneLobby, which had developed administrative software for conferences. The OneLobby purchase was never publicly announced, but before long members of the tech community noticed that Cvent was aggressively adding staff to its Fredericton operations.

Cvent started in 1999, providing technology solutions to help professionals and marketers organize events, engage audiences and measure and analyze results. It also offers digital marketing tools and software solutions to help people in the hospitality industry.

In April, Cvent announced that it aims to expand its global operations, hiring up to 1,000 new employees worldwide. The company also plans to open offices in Dubai and Germany later this year.

Cvent's founder and CEO, Reggie Aggarwal said in a statement: “While our growth has been rapid, our winning culture – and our unwavering focus on our employees – has remained core to what we do. We continue to invest heavily in our regional offices like Fredericton to ensure we remain competitive in the marketplace. We encourage everyone who wants to be part of an incredibly dynamic, fast-growing technology company to apply and join our team.”
