Nova Scotia-based inclusive innovation group ONSIDE has opened applications to its virtual startup accelerator for female founders, Start Now. Inc., which it runs in partnership with the Bridgewater-based virtual program for rural startups Mashup Lab.
The program is funded by the federal government’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy Fund and has a particular focus on backing “rural, indigenous, diverse and underserved women.” Applications can so far be submitted in English, with a French option to come.
The six-week program has limited space in each cohort, and covers the basics of startup ideation, business planning, market research, customer discovery and pitching. Its content is a modified version of Mashup Lab’s Virtual Business Incubator.
Along with the the incubator, the new Start Now entity will also offer advisory and technical training services, mentorship matching services and networking events, with details to come.
“Start Now Inc. offers a virtual business incubator alongside other programs and a supportive community of intersectional women, empowering them to gain confidence and practical skills to launch and grow their dream businesses,” said ONSIDE on Twitter.
