Canada’s Ocean Supercluster has announced a joint call for proposals with British government organization Innovate U.K. under its newly created Canada-UK: Collaborative Ocean Innovation Solutions Program.
The two groups are looking for private sector research and development partnerships on the topics of clean energy, aquaculture, seaweed cultivation, carbon capture and storage, robotics and drones and sensors and data. An informational webinar will be held Sept. 18 at 2:30 p.m., though the planned project format is broadly similar to the consortium model typically used by the Supercluster.
In total, the Supercluster and Innovate U.K. plan to spend about £4 million, or C$6.8 million, with the program being open to startups from both countries.
“This strategic partnership harnesses the scientific prowess and innovative spirit of Canada and the United Kingdom, paving the way for a new era of maritime advancement,” says the Supercluster.
