St. John’s-based Mysa Smart Thermostats has launched its fifth product, Mysa LITE, which is a low-cost version of its flagship control system for electric baseboard heaters.

The new thermostat is positioned as an affordable way for consumers to cut down on their electricity bills by automatically adjusting the heaters to minimize energy consumption.

The announcement comes two months after Mysa launched in Europe and four months after it said it had bought the intellectual property of Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Zen Ecosystems.

“The newest member of our Mysa family, Mysa LITE, bridges the gap between greater affordability and household energy efficiency," said CEO Joshua Green in a statement.

"Our mission to build an electric future means empowering folks to make sustainable energy management choices, and we want to make that as easy and affordable as possible for homeowners.”

In addition to its first product — Mysa for Baseboards, which is now in its second generation — Mysa also makes control systems for in-floor heating and heat pumps.

The launch of Mysa LITE coincides with a planned push by the company into the commercial HVAC, or climate control market. Last year, Mysa made a collaboration deal with Redwood City, California's Autogrid to deploy Mysa’s technology in the systems of Puget Sound Energy, a Washington State utility company.

Mysa last raised capital in 2021, when it closed a $20.3 million series B funding round led by Montreal cleantech fund Cycle Capital Management. It currently  has 109 employees listed on LinkedIn.
