Memorial University’s Fisheries and Marine Institute is searching for a new head of its School of Ocean Technology.
The incoming boss will replace Interim Head Joe Singleton and oversee the development of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as upskilling initiatives for industry. Created in 2007, the School of Ocean Technology also organizes applied research and development programs in the areas of ocean instrumentation, underwater vehicles, ocean mapping and ocean observing systems with the aim of creating work experience opportunities for students and recent graduates.
The Marine Institute itself plays host to more than 1,100 diploma candidates and undergraduate and graduate students, along with 400 faculty members and staff. More than 5,000 people also enrol in the Institute’s industrial training programs every year. In total, the Institute has been a collaborator on about 250 projects across 50 countries.
“This is an opportunity to help shape the future workforce, engage in exciting ocean research and development, and to foster strategic partnerships with academia, industry, and governments both locally and globally,” said the Marine Institute on LinkedIn.
