Ignite Atlantic has opened applications for its $100 youth startup challenge to help foster entrepreneurship in rural Nova Scotia.

The youth startup challenge is a four-day summer camp that allows individuals from Grades 7 to 11 to develop and refine their entrepreneurial skills. Ignite Atlantic, an innovation hub dedicated to fostering innovation in rural communities, said it will provide hands-on experience in product-creation and business management. It also intends to provide mentorship and guidance catered to the interests of the participants.

Ignite Atlantic’s locations in Yarmouth and New Glasgow will host 10 young entrepreneurs each.

Each participant will be given $100 at the beginning of the camp, which they are expected to use to create a business.

Those who are interested can register here. There is a $50 registration fee, and applicants are asked to provide a rough business proposal that the program will use to better cater to the mentorship needs of participants.
