Innovacorp has launched its 2018-19 Accelerate Program, which aims to help early-stage companies in the CleanTech, AgTech, Oceantech and MedTech spaces.
Applications are open until Sept. 10 for the program, which grants participants up to $50,000 in non-dilutive funding and provides mentorship, market intelligence and shared office space.
One interesting feature of the program is that it includes a “global stream” which will allow companies from around the world to apply. If they’re accepted, they may receive a letter of support for Innovacorp’s Start-Up Visa Program and be eligible to receive up to $25,000 to cover the costs of moving to Nova Scotia.
Innovacorp, the Nova Scotia government’s innovation and venture capital agency, will announce the winners Sept. 24 and the program will run from October of this year to March 2019. The program features two main groups – the CleanTech Accelerate Program (which includes OceanTech and AgTech) and the MedTech Accelerate Program.
In addition to the funding, the program will include: an advisory service from Experts in Residence; monthly workshops (which are mandatory but can be attended remotely); market intelligence through the MaRS Market Intelligence Services program; and shared office space in one of Innovacorp’s incubation facilities.
Applicants must be a registered startup based in Nova Scotia with an ocean, agricultural, clean, or medical technology product and/or service. They have to have less than $1 million in cumulative sales, and companies that have received venture capital investment from Innovacorp are not eligible.
