Halifax-based Tribe Network is inviting Black founders aiming to bring a basic product to market to apply to its BUILD program, which begins mid-March.
Founded in 2021 by social entrepreneur Alfred Burgesson, Tribe offers support and training services for Black-owned companies. One of its initiatives is the Black Start-Up Project, which aims to foster Black founders through such programs as BUILD.
The BUILD program provides education and workshops delivered by Black leaders, experts and entrepreneurs, the group said in a statement. The program offers resources and wraparound services like mentors and experts-in-residence, grant writing support, and funder introductions.
The program is open to founders in Atlantic Canada who:
* Have a minimal viable product, or MVP, or initial product or service in place;
* Need additional, specialized or in-depth resources to fortify their business and revenue goals;
* And have identified their customer base, and require hands-on opportunities to put a business model into practice.
The group is also hosting in-person Black Business Dinners in communities across Atlantic Canada.
Starting March 9, Tribe will team up with Black-led organizations and community members to allow founders to connect with the Black business community and learn more about the BUILD program.
