Pow Wow Pitch, the premier pitch competition for Indigenous entrepreneurs in North America, will hold a pitch event at the Natoageneg Traditional Powwow in New Brunswick in July.
The 23rd Natoaganeg Traditional Powwow will be held on the Eel Ground First Nation, overlooking the Miramichi River. On July 15, it will feature a Pow Wow Pitch competition in which participants can pitch their businesses in front of a live panel of judges.
“This is the farthest east we will have taken Pow Wow Pitch and can’t wait to meet the community members and to hear their ideas,” said Sunshine Tenasco, the founder of Pow Wow Pitch. “We also couldn’t be more thankful to be welcomed by the powwow organizers and our presenting partners, JEDI and Women In Business New Brunswick, together, we’re championing Indigenous innovation and resilience.”
The top 10 pitchers will be paired with mentors and the top five will have the chance to win cash prizes. The overall winner will receive $5,000 and a ticket to the Turtle Island Finale to pitch for the grand prize of $25,000.
“Effective partnerships like these with the focus on increasing Indigenous representation within the New Brunswick economy is paving the way to what true economic reconciliation is,” said Stanley Barnaby, the CEO of the Joint Economic Development Initiative, or JEDI, which supports economic development for Indigenous people in New Brunswick.
