Our survey analysis and Bonfire Communications’ tremendous infographic attracted a lot of attention yesterday. So I thought I’d pass on some of it.
We reported yesterday that our survey and research had shown that the startup craze in Atlantic Canada created 3,000 direct jobs, and that the companies’ staff levels were rising by more than 40 percent annually.
The National Post today published a great story on the survey by Quentin Casey, and the Chronicle-Herald devoted the full front of its business section yesterday to the survey. I really liked the headline the Herald editors placed on their online edition: "Startups: The little engine that can". Techvibes ran a piece on it and the Telegraph-Journal in Saint John had a reporter cover it. Stephanie Domet interviewed me yesterday afternoon on CBC’s Mainstreet in Halifax.
The tweetosphere was atwitter – logically enough – as well over 100 people tweeted or retweeted about the report. The tweeters ranged from local tech champions to one Fernando Moreira in Kuala Lumpur. (No relation.)
Several organizations have asked for copies of the infographic. It will be featured next week at the StartupNL Innovation Week, and on the East Valley Venture website. Volta will frame it and place it on display in the Halifax startup house.
Thanks all for you kind words the last 48 hours. It’s been touching.
