Serial entrepreneur Dan Martell next week will announce a new startup that will operate out of his hometown of Moncton.

Martell will launch Clarity.fm at a ceremony in Moncton late next week and reveal the details of the new company at that time.

We’ve been sworn to secrecy but can say that Clarity.fm will address the problem of linking advisers with entrepreneurs who need their advice. People in the startup business often have trouble finding experts who can provide the specific advice they need, and this new venture will help to address that pain point.

Martell has some experience in this field already as he is the “curator” of maplebutter.com, a blogging site that broadcasts advice for entrepreneurs from some of the sharpest minds in Silicon Valley.

What is significant is that Martell continues to be active in New Brunswick and the region. Though he moved to California after he sold his first venture Spheric Technologies in 2008, he’s remained part of the tech community in New Brunswick, and the creation of Clarity.fm will only reinforce that link.

“I am 100 percent behind doing whatever I can to help New Brunswick get its name on the map as a major technology centre,” said Martell in an email. “We've had a lot of success from a B2B perspective to date  . . . but I believe the local startup community can and will benefit by being exposed to consumer-focused product development as well.”

In October, Martell and his partners sold Flowtown, a San Francisco online gift marketing enterprise, to San Francisco-based Demandforce for an undisclosed price. A group of angels sank $750,000 into Flowtown just 13 months beforehand.
