A consortium of New Brunswick startup support organizations will host the inaugural InnovateNB Awards Nov. 22 in Saint John.

Created by a group of innovation-focused public and private sector organizations including TechImpact, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, the University of New Brunswick’s McKenna Institute and online startup incubator Propel, the event will last a full day and include an industry trade show and recruitment showcase as well as talks from industry leaders and investors. The trade show and recruitment showcase will be free to the public.

“The InnovateNB Awards will build on the strong heritage of the KIRA Awards to celebrate technical, social, and economic innovation across all sectors in New Brunswick,” said TechImpact CEO Cathy Simpson in a statement.

“This new format will also bring a wide range of stakeholders in the innovation sector together, along with other interested New Brunswickers, to forge new relationships and drive new opportunities, investments, and growth.”

Founded in 1998 by innovation hub Ignite Fredericton, the KIRA Awards were the forerunner of the new InnovateNB Awards. The last KIRA event was held in 2018, and the InnovateNB consortium is looking to revive the practice as part of New Brunswick’s post-pandemic economic recovery.

More information about the nomination process, sponsorship opportunities and how people can attend will be forthcoming.
