Milan Vrekic, the CEO of TitanFile, is looking for IT startups to present their technology at the second annual DemoCamp Halifax at Dalhousie University on the evening of Sunday, September 23.
DemoCamp is an opportunity for the tech community to witness what’s being developed by entrepreneurs in Nova Scotia, and other parts of Atlantic Canada. It is not a pitching event. It is not a contest. It is a chance for the tech community – including investors – to get together and learn what the best technological minds in the region are creating, and listen to the wisdom of a few seasoned entrepreneurs.
Vrekic and his team of organizers are now selecting companies -- software, Saas, social media and the like -- to demo at the event. They will pick 16, and each of them will have five minutes – and not a second longer – to show off their product. No powerpoints - just demos.
They’ve already selected two – the newcomer conference social network OneLobby and established video crowdsourcing provider Wooshii – that represent the range of experience they are looking for.
“Last year, we had an overflow crowd of 150 attendees and had to turn away about a 100 people,” said Vrekic. “This year we are booking a larger hall and hope to have 200 to 300 people.”
As well as entrepreneurs demoing their wares, DemoCamp will feature a host of speakers dealing with subjects of concern to tech entrepreneurs. The keynote speaker will be Mike Grandinetti of Boston, Managing Director at Southboro Capital, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing at Hult International School of Business and mentor at events such as SeedCamp, Tech Stars Boston, Founders’ Institute and many others. Grandinetti is also more than familiar with the region as he is a director of three outstanding companies here: ClearRisk of St. John’s; Halifax Biomedical of Mabou, Cape Breton and Marcato Digital of Sydney.
The other speakers enlisted so far are international marketing expert Ulrike Bahr-Gedalia and Brian Dunphy of Radian6.
Entrevestor is proud to be a sponsor of DemoCamp.
