Provincial venture capital crown corporation Innovacorp is organizing a panel discussion on raising capital in the blue economy, to be held at Dartmouth’s Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship, as part of its Business over Breakfast series.
Scheduled for Nov. 10 at 8:00 a.m., the event will see panelists Sally Ng, Rob Barbara and Jennifer Fuccillo discuss fundraising tactics for bluetech and cleantech startups.
Ng is the CEO of the Wallace McCain Institute at the University of New Brunswick, and was previously COO of the Tribe Network for Black entrepreneurs. She has also previously worked with industry group the National Angel Capital Organization, as well as Montreal- and Toronto-based Brightspark Ventures.
Barbara is a partner at Halifax venture capital fund Build Ventures and was previously a senior vice president and director at Toronto’s Burgundy Asset Management. Early in his career, he also co-founded medical IT start-up eSalveo, which was sold in 2001.
And Fuccillo is an investment analyst at Innovacorp. Before that, she co-founded Long Island natural foods company Olive del Mondo.
The event comes as venture capital markets are tightening, and industry observers like Clearwater Seafoods billionaire John Risley have warned that it could become more challenging for oceans startups to raise funding.
Attendance is free, but spots are limited. More information and a registration link can be found here.
