Three Atlantic Canadian startup support organizations will hold pitch competitions in the coming weeks: Halifax’s Volta, Moncton’s Venn Innovation and St. John's-based Genesis.
Startup incubator Volta will hold its quarterly pitch competition on August 11, with the application deadline of July 25 at 11:59 p.m.
Startup founders will have the chance to speak for three minutes in front of a panel of judges including entrepreneurs and potential investors. The winner will receive a $500 Visa gift card. Competitors will be judged on the quality of their idea and pitch, but not the viability of their business.
Venn Innovation’s Venn Garage pitch competition is being held July 15 and 16, but applications closed Tuesday.
The competition doubles as the intake process for the Venn Garage incubator, which is meant for New Brunswick startups looking for early-stage mentorship and help validating their technology.
And Genesis’s Pitch & Pick competition will be held Aug. 3. The competition will feature companies from the summer cohort of Genesis’s Evolution “pre-incubator”, which helps young companies spend eight weeks validating their ideas and finding product-market fit.
