Saint Mary’s University has launched a new diversity, equity and inclusion program for student entrepreneurs via its Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre.
The Entrepreneurship Inclusion Initiative, funded with $200,000 from TD Bank, will have three components: a 10-week training program for young founders, a one day boot camp and periodic inclusion-focused community events.
The 10-week program, called Ignition, is aimed at offering student entrepreneurs mentorship and networking opportunities, in addition to business training. The Summer Entrepreneurial Experience, meanwhile, offers participants the change to develop business ideas with the help of experts, with the chance to receive funding from a $20,000 pool.
“This two-year pilot is designed to amplify the support of diverse student entrepreneurs, advance the entrepreneurial mindset and innovate business models,” says SMU.
