Riverview, N.B.-based FloraTrack AI, which develops software for greenhouse growers, has been named AI Startup of the Year at the inaugural AI Catalyst Awards hosted by TechPlace.

The award was announced Oct. 8 during TechPlace’s 2026 Annual Open House & Innovation Showcase at the Robert Bateman Community Centre in Burlington, Ont. The awards were organized with Innovation Factory, the Burlington Chamber of Commerce and Brock LINC.

FloraTrack develops artificial intelligence software to help greenhouse operators monitor pests, manage crops and streamline integrated pest management (IPM). Its system analyzes sticky cards to count pests and beneficial insects, prioritizes which plant boxes growers should inspect and suggests treatments. It also records scouting results.

The company incorporates augmented reality (AR) smart glasses into its platform, allowing scouts to follow maps, conduct guided inspections and record problems hands-free while working among plants.

FloraTrack builds its datasets in collaboration with horticulture colleges and universities and develops its software alongside growers who use it regularly. The product is available in English, French and Spanish.

“Most greenhouse scouting still happens on paper, and the AI that helps growers has to work in the aisle, not just in the office,” said Daniel Lirette, FloraTrack AI’s CEO and founder, in a statement.

The AI Catalyst Awards recognize companies and individuals using artificial intelligence to develop businesses and change how organizations operate. Judges Brian Lenahan, Pritam Ambekar and Daniel Thanos selected the winners.

FloraTrack said the recognition reflects its approach of developing technology alongside greenhouse operators.
