The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and provincial business development agency Opportunities New Brunswick will host their R3 climatetech summit in-person this February at the Fredericton Convention Centre.

The R3 – Connecting for Climate Innovation Forum is a venue for climate entrepreneurs, researchers and public servants to discuss innovation-driven solutions to the climate crisis.

This year’s forum will aim specifically to educate attendees about funding opportunities for cleantech innovation.

“Supporting research into technologies with the potential to mitigate climate change is paramount to driving cleantech innovation in New Brunswick,” said NBIF Chief Executive Jeff White in a statement.

“The Forum will serve as an excellent opportunity for key stakeholders and changemakers to gather and collaborate on ideas that can help our province innovate towards a cleaner and greener future.”

Among the roughly 13 speakers will be Dustin Bowers, CEO of Hampstead, New Brunswick-based PLAEX Building Systems, which is developing modular, interlocking bricks made from about 90 percent recycled materials; Joe Allen, managing director of Energia Ventures; and Xavier Hébert-Couturier, CEO of Fredericton agtech startup Picketa Systems.

The day-long event will be held Feb. 23 starting with registration opening at noon. Tickets cost $171.35, including tax, or $113.85 for students, and can be purchased here. The agenda is here.
