The University of New Brunswick’s J. Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management and Entrepreneurship will host its Future of Innovation in Canada conference Oct. 17, exploring the latest trends and talking-points in the innovation economy.
Slated to be held at the Delta Hotel, Fredericton, the conference will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. It will also feature two keynote speakers: Sam Magee, director of the Lemann Program on Creativity and Entrepreneurship at Harvard, and Gordon Pitts, a prominent business journalist and author of Unicorn in the Woods, which chronicles the stories of high-flying New Brunswick tech startups Radian6 and Q1 Labs.
"The Future of Innovation Conference ... sparks new conversations about cutting-edge solutions for problems that are persistent throughout Canada and the world," said the J. Herbert Smith Centre in a statetment.
"This year we are celebrating our 35th anniversary by reflecting on New Brunswick's innovative leaders as well as learning more about future innovative solutions and ideas across various sectors."
The event will also include three innovation-related panels: one focused on trends in technology and innovation, which will be moderated by Magee; one on the future of innovation, hosted by Pitts; and one on the outlook for startup investing, hosted by Ray Fitzpatrick, a former New Brunswick Innovation Foundation investor and the CEO of fintech startup Profitual.
Also featured will be a pair of innovation spotlights in which former J. Herbert Smith Centre chairs interview alumni, as well as recorded talks from Nova Scotia-based technologist and educator David Myles and MP Jennie Atwin.
