The University of New Brunswick’s Faculty of Management has launched a new Sales and Growth Certificate Program aimed at addressing a shortage of graduates with practical sales, business development and export skills.
The two-year pilot program, administered through the International Business & Entrepreneurship Centre, has selected five BBA students for its inaugural cohort. The program combines academic study with industry training, networking, speaker sessions, sales competitions and paid summer internships.
The initiative was developed in response to feedback from New Brunswick businesses seeking graduates who can contribute to sales and business development soon after entering the workforce.
"Businesses consistently tell us they need graduates who can generate opportunities, build relationships, and contribute to revenue growth from the start," said Ryan Reid, the IBEC Program Manager. "This program offers a new and exciting experiential learning opportunity that equips outstanding students with practical skills and real-world experience. Employers will benefit from access to highly motivated, well-trained students who can add value immediately."
UNB is delivering the program in partnership with the NB Business Council, which will help connect students with employers and industry opportunities. Participating students will complete paid, sales-focused summer internships with employers through the organization.
Atlantic Growth Solutions will provide sales and professional development workshops, with the training culminating in Sandler certification. The workshops will cover modern sales methods and business development practices.
Businesses interested in hosting paid interns or learning more about the program can contact Reid at ryan.reid@unb.ca.
