REDspace, the Bedford, NS, IT company that employs more than 200 people, captured the Business of the Year Award at the Halifax Business Awards on Thursday.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, REDspace builds flexible platforms for global enterprises, with a special strength in video platforms. In the past few years, it’s experienced strong growth with the advent of streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.
It was one of several IT companies or innovation driven companies that captured awards at the virtual event hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. The Small Business of the Year was The Rounds, which operates closed social networks for medical professionals, and the Innovative Business of the Year was Oberland Agriscience, which uses organic waste to grow insect larvae that can be used as petfood. Purple Cow Internet, a discount internet service provider, was named the Best New Business.
“Awards night brings together the business community to celebrate a job well done. This year, we have that much more to celebrate. Businesses persevered through their toughest year yet,” said Chamber President and CEO Patrick Sullivan in a statement.
