Dalhousie University has opened applications for its second Ready2Launch cohort, a summer accelerator for Atlantic Canadian university students and recent graduates.

The three-month program for technology-based ventures will be offered virtually this year, and begin in June. Undergraduate, graduate and PhD students as well as postdoctoral fellows are welcome to apply.

“Dalhousie University is pleased to once again present the Ready2Launch program, empowering university students and graduates across Atlantic Canada to explore tech-enabled ventures in a supportive environment,’ said Dr. Alice Aiken, the university’s Vice President of Research and Innovation. “The program serves as an important addition to the Dal Innovates suite of programs, which is not only cultivating a pipeline of creators, innovators and entrepreneurs, but creating local and global impact.”

Ready2Launch teaches participating teams to consult potential customers to learn about their problems and design products that help to solve those problems. The program will accept 10 teams, which will receive mentorship, personalized training, and skill clinics, as well as up to $15,000 in funding.

Ready2Launch will culminate in a demo day in early September and will include in-kind perks and benefits from corporate partners.

In 2020, the program accepted and graduated eight teams: 3D BioFibR, Caldi Controls, Chipn, Clean Valley Bio-filtration Technologies CIC, Haligone, MyPAQ, Remote Energy Systems, and Smart Design Systems. Many of these have gone on to raise funding and participate in other accelerators.

Ready2Launch is based on the Delta V Accelerator program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
