Halifax-based immersive technology specialist Modest Tree on Tuesday announced the launch of Xplorer 2.0, the latest iteration of its extended reality enterprise software.
Modest Tree’s Xplorer solution allows the use of extended reality (XR) – a blanket term for augmented reality, virtual reality and other technologies that immerse the user in a virtual world – for help in training, sales or demonstrations.
Xplorer 2.0 is an XR content-generation software platform that allows users to employ a drag-and-drop interface to quickly transform their own content into advanced XR content. It can be used on virtual reality or augmented reality devices, on personal computers, and offers cross-platform, multiplayer interaction.
“We wanted to open up the world of XR to those who aren't virtual reality experts so we could support organizations who needed a rapid and accessible means to develop, adapt, and scale their own AR, VR, and XR content,” said Modest Tree CEO Sam Sannandeji in a statement. “Xplorer 2.0 makes it even easier for organizations to develop reusable, editable training and marketing content that cuts down on project time and budget, placing them in a better position to succeed in today’s competitive environment.”
The company said the release of Xplorer 2.0 provides a timely response to a growing need across industry sectors. A recent VRX Industry Report said enterprise adoption of VR, AR, and XR applications has increased 46 percent in the past year as more people work in remote conditions.
Germany’s Renk, a member of the Volkswagen group, bought a stake in Modest Tree in September, 2019. At the time, Modest Tree was in the process of expanding into the European virtual reality and augmented reality training markets.
