Industry group Atlantic FinTech will participate in the 2021 Payments Canada Summit, Canada’s largest payments conference, along with two Moncton-area companies that are members of the group. 

The association will be joined by purchase-to–payment software platform SnapAP and WeyMedia, a company that runs creditcardGenius, a credit card matchmaker that compares features of Canadian and American cards.  

The virtual Summit is scheduled for May 31 through June 4, and will allow stakeholders to exchange ideas on the industry’s future and establish connections. 

“Our region’s fintechs have the innovation capabilities, technology, and potential, and what we really need is a platform like The Summit to gain visibility and build connections,” Alicia Roisman Ismach, Head of Atlantic FinTech, said in a statement.

“We want everyone to see what we are talking about when we say a fintech revolution is taking place within Atlantic Canada,” she continued. “The two companies in the mission have incredible products that will speak for themselves.” 

Recently, Atlantic FinTech partnered with Fintech Cadence, a Montreal-based national non-profit, to help grow the region’s fintech industry and ecosystem.

Atlantic Canada has produced some notable companies, most famously St. John's-based financial crime prevention software company Verafin, which was acquired by Nasdaq last year for US$2.75 billion.

On its site, Atlantic FinTech said the region currently has more than 100 fintech startups and is home to more than 500 businesses operating in the finance sector, with a workforce of more than 35,000. 

The upcoming event will cover various niches within the payments space, including consumer payments, payment data analytics, cybersecurity, and risk and digital currency. Atlantic FinTech will focus on fintechs in payments. Regional fintech companies that would like to be represented at the Atlantic FinTech booth are invited to connect.
