The six companies that comprise the 2025 Summer Institute Cohort presented their work to the public last Friday, illustrating a range of new technologies.
Now in its 12th year, University of New Brunswick's Summer Institute program teaches sales, marketing, and customer validation skills to companies making positive social and environmental impacts.
The three-month accelerator offers founders more than $6,000 for living costs, $2,000 for prototyping, as well as skills training and coaching. Since it began in 2014, the program has graduated more than 60 ventures.
The 2025 participating companies are:
DeepREM Labs is a science-backed sleep enhancement app that uses AI, biometric monitoring, and sound technology to improve sleep quality. It integrates with popular wearables like Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch, offering a natural, non-invasive alternative to sleep medications.
HUNGY is a full-stack platform that modernizes food relief operations by replacing outdated tools with an all-in-one system for managing food from intake to distribution. It streamlines workflows, reduces waste, and turns daily activity into actionable data that enhances funding, efficiency, and community impact. Hungy serves as the operating system for food relief, empowering organizations to scale their mission sustainably.
Mulli Swing Solutions is developing a sensor-embedded golf grip that tracks grip pressure and swing motion in real time. Data is sent via Bluetooth to an app, giving players and coaches visual feedback to bridge the gap between “real” and “feel.” Unlike other tools that focus on ball flight and club movement, Mulli targets a key blind spot—grip pressure—while preserving the natural feel of a traditional grip.
Rocket Rank automates SEO content creation to boost online visibility. It generates keyword-optimized articles with images and publishes them directly to platforms like WordPress, Webflow, and Notion. By streamlining keyword research, writing, and posting, it saves time and drives organic traffic growth.
SeaGreen Solutions is an environmental tech startup that is turning seaweed into carbon-negative biochar for agriculture. Their eco-friendly soil conditioner boosts crop yields by improving soil health while locking away carbon. Rooted in Atlantic Canada’s coastal ecosystems, Seagreen promotes regenerative farming and environmental resilience.
Wellobit is a digital health company that helps users manage stress in real time by translating physiological signals into simple insights. Its app guides users through quick breathing resets and gamified wellness experiences led by mascot Zenny. Combining tech, behavioral science, and breathwork, Wellobit empowers professionals to build resilience and improve daily wellbeing.
