We’re pleased to announce that we will be stepping away from Entrevestor later this year.
We first posted on Entrevestor on Aug 13, 2011, and about 7,000 articles later we’re ready to call it a day. It’s been a tremendous ride and we couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past 15 years. Now we’re keen to retire and pursue other projects, including writing our books. So on Sept. 30, we will post our final article on this site.
Does this mean the end for Entrevestor? We hope not. The Atlantic Canadian startup community needs an independent source of news and data, covering all four provinces and all the sectors. We’re already talking to people about continuing this work and hope to be able to announce something before too long. (If you're interested in talking about continuing the work, please feel free to reach out to us.)
We’ll continue to report on developments in the startup community leading up to Sept. 30, with one caveat. We usually take some time off in the period leading up to Labour Day as it’s a slow time of year. This year, we'll extend that to one month.
We’re planning to have some sort of official celebration of Entrevestor and the community in October. It will be a look back at what we’ve witnessed over the past 15 years, what we see today, and how we believe the community and ecosystem will unfold.
And we’re pretty sure the next chapter for us will be semi-retirement rather than retirement. That may involve helping with the transition period as a new party takes over Entrevestor. And it will likely involve some consulting and corporate writing. Again, anyone who wants to work with us should reach out.
We have so many people to thank, and we will do so personally in the next four months. But let’s start by thanking two overlapping groups. The first is the Atlantic Canadian founders – it’s been fabulous to witness your success over the past decade and a half. And the second is our readers, who have been so supportive.
Many thanks to all of you.
