NATO's new Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic, for which Halifax is bidding to be the North American host city, is seeking applicants for a trio of innovation challenges for sensor and surveillance tech, secure communications and energy resilience.

Called DIANA for short, the accelerator is meant to promote cooperation between the defence sector and the startup economy.

Dal Innovates, the multi-tiered innovation program at Dalhousie University, is a global finalist for the Triple E Awards, which recognize the most entrepreneurial universities in the world.

Dal is one of 24 university entrepreneurship programs that will compete in the finals next week in Barcelona. The finalists include two other Canadian universities: McGill and Wilfrid Laurier.
