      <description><![CDATA[<p>Moncton-based <a href="https://breathebiomedical.com/" target="_blank">Breathe BioMedical</a> has expanded a clinical study of its breast cancer detection device after a clinical study found an 88 percent success rate in detecting breast cancer.</p>

<p>The company issued a press release recently saying that Pittsburgh&rsquo;s Weinstein Imaging Associates has become the fourth site in its multi-centre observational study aimed at advancing a breath test designed to detect breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue. The technology is being developed as a supplement to mammography, which is less effective in women with dense breasts.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="https://sparknovascotia.com/" target="_blank">Spark Nova Scotia</a>, the contest for rural and coastal high-potential, knowledge-based businesses, has announced this year&rsquo;s winners.</p>

<p>The contest is run in three regions &mdash; Cape Breton, North, and Southwest &mdash; and offers winners up to $50,000 in non-dilutive funding.&nbsp;The competition featured five finalists in each of the three regions, including a competition in the North region that resulted in&nbsp;four of the five finalists being female-led ventures.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="https://somrubioscience.com/" target="_blank">Somru BioScience Inc.,</a> a Charlottetown-based contract research organization, has agreed to buy Novus Clinical Research Services Ltd. of Bangladesh to expand its international clinical research operations.</p>

<p>The P.E.I. company announced Wednesday that its affiliate, Somru BioScience (BD) Limited, has signed a definitive agreement to purchase all shares of Novus, a clinical research organization operating in Bangladesh. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Aiming to provide growth-stage financing to Atlantic Canadian startups, a multi-fund investment group called <a href="https://www.atlanticangrowth.com/" target="_blank">AtlantiCan Growth Partners </a>launched this week and could be writing cheques this summer.</p>

<p>Backed by private investors, AGP has named its board of directors and is planning to launch three funds to invest in Atlantic Canadian companies. Its first fund will target blue economy startups in such industries as aquaculture, marine technology, fisheries and ocean innovation.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Saint John-based <a href="https://troj.ai/" target="_blank">TrojAI</a>, which has developed cybersecurity systems for artificial intelligence, has been acquired by <a href="https://www.a10networks.com/" target="_blank">A10 Networks</a> of Silicon Valley for an undisclosed price.</p>

<p>The two companies announced the acquisition in a statement Monday, saying it will strengthen A10&rsquo;s ability to deliver sovereign AI security, helping customers control how and where their AI models, data and agents are protected.</p>

<p>In an interview, TrojAI Co-Founders James Stewart and Stephen Goddard said the company&rsquo;s 22-member team would remain in Saint John after the acquisition and likely add members over time.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The head of Canada&rsquo;s newest investor group believes the Maritimes would be one of the big beneficiaries if the federal government adopts its plans for the innovation ecosystem.</p>
