      <title>East Coast Innovation Raises $550K+</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="https://eastcoastinnovation.com/" target="_blank">East Coast Innovation Inc.</a> has raised more than $550,000 so far in its first institutional financing round, as the company gains traction with its fish-loading technology for the global salmon farming industry.</p>

<p>The<a href="http://www.nbif.ca" target="_blank"> New Brunswick Innovation Foundation</a> issued a press release Wednesday saying it has committed $350,000 as lead investor in the funding round, which hasn&rsquo;t closed yet. <a href="https://www.tlt.ventures/" target="_blank">TLT Ventures</a> is also an investor, and TLT Managing Director Michael Brown told Entrevestor his fund is investing $200,000. Existing investors have also committed to investing in the round, said the statement.&nbsp;</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="https://www.maritimelaunch.com/" target="_blank">Maritime Launch Services</a> has signed a 10-year facilities usage agreement with German launch company Isar Aerospace to develop a dedicated launch complex for the Spectrum rocket at Spaceport Nova Scotia near Canso.</p>

<p>The agreement advances plans for commercial orbital launches from Canada&#39;s first licensed commercial orbital spaceport, with construction of the new facilities expected to begin this year and the first orbital launches targeted for 2028.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Fredericton-based <a href="https://www.climative.ai/" target="_blank">Climative </a>has partnered with Wawanesa Insurance to pilot a digital platform that provides homeowners with personalized assessments of their wildfire risk and recommendations to reduce it.</p>

<p>Announced last month, the pilot offers Canadian homeowners free access to an AI-powered tool that combines property-specific data with user information to generate wildfire risk scores, energy performance insights and prioritized recommendations for improving a home&#39;s resilience.</p>

<p>Wawanesa said it is the first insurer in Canada to offer this type of resource to customers.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Fredericton-based <a href="https://www.picketa.com/" target="_blank">Picketa Systems</a> has raised C$2.1 million in an oversubscribed financing round to expand its real-time crop nutrition platform across North America and add support for more crop types.</p>

<p>The round was led by Tall Grass Ventures of Calgary. New investors, the company said in a blog, included BDC Seed Fund, Verdex Capital and Skull Diamond &amp; Heart Capital. Existing investors New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, Koan Capital and East Valley Ventures also participated.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Sanjay Dubey of&nbsp;<a href="http://www.mun.ca" target="_blank">Memorial University</a> has won the $80,000 second prize in the 2026 Student Entrepreneur Climate Solutions Prize for his work developing seaweed-based alternatives to conventional plastics.</p>

<p>The award recognizes Dubey as a Co-Founder of St. John&rsquo;s-based <a href="https://www.biolabmate.ca/" target="_blank">BioLabMate Composite Inc.</a>, a startup he co-founded with CEO Dr. Sarika Kumari. Although the prize was presented to him personally, the funding will be used to advance the company&#39;s commercialization efforts.</p>
