      <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="https://www.colabsoftware.com/" target="_blank">CoLab AI</a>, which makes AI-driven collaboration software for engineers, was named the Nasdaq Verafin Tech Company of the Year last week at the fifth annual <a href="https://technl.ca/" target="_blank">techNL </a>Industry Awards.</p>

<p>The industry association presented awards in five categories during an event attended by about 200 people at JAG Soundhouse. The competition featured 23 nominees selected across the province&rsquo;s technology sector. Winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Nova Scotia founders are invited to apply to <a href="https://sparknovascotia.com/" target="_blank">Spark Nova Scotia</a>, the contest for rural and coastal high-potential, knowledge-based businesses.</p>

<p>The contest is run in three regions &mdash; Cape Breton, North, and Southwest &mdash;&nbsp;and offers winners up to $50,000.&nbsp;Each geographical region functions independently, with its own applicant pool and local judges.</p>

It is the first time the awards will be held in Atlantic Canada.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Saint John-based <a href="https://www.versos.ai/" target="_blank">Versos AI </a>has announced a partnership with <a href="https://www.tapeark.com/" target="_blank">Tape Ark</a> to convert large volumes of video stored on physical tape into structured datasets for artificial intelligence systems.</p>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="https://www.mun.ca/mce" target="_blank">Memorial Centre for Entrepreneurship </a>(MCE) has launched a program aimed at helping Memorial University engineering co-op students identify real-world problems that could lead to the creation of new companies.</p>

<p>The initiative, called the <a href="https://www.mun.ca/mce/programs--events/problem-identification-lab-program/" target="_blank">Problem Identification Lab Program</a>, is now accepting applications from students who have observed challenges during their co-op placements.
